The springs in Mariánské Lázně: a miracle of nature and the basis of the spa tradition

Mariánské Lázně, the pearl of the West Bohemian spa triangle, is famous for its unique concentration of mineral springs. More than 100 natural healing springs spring up in a relatively small area, of which about 40 are actively used for treatment, drinking cures or inhalations. These springs are the basis of the healing procedures and the history of the town, which has been the centre of European spa culture since the beginning of the 19th century.

The power of natural healing water

The springs in Mariánské Lázně are characterised by their high content of carbon dioxide, mineral salts and trace elements. Each spring has a specific composition, temperature and therapeutic effects, allowing for a wide range of treatment programmes. The water is traditionally used for:

  • for the treatment of kidney and urinary tract diseases

  • for metabolic and digestive disorders

  • for breathing difficulties

  • for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders

  • to support the cardiovascular system

The basis of the treatment is a drinking cure, during which guests visit individual springs as recommended by the spa doctor.

The most famous Mariánské Lázně springs

Cross spring

Ferdinand's Spring

Caroline's Spring
